About Naughty By Nature
Grammy Award winning, Platinum-album selling, Naughty By Nature, has nearly a twenty-year track record of creating the hits and party anthems. Their music has smashed through mainstream barriers all while remaining true to the sound, message and grit of the hood. Their self-titled debut album was released in 1991 and quickly assaulted the music charts with the instant classic #1 hit “O.P.P. Later, the group had multiple hits from its third and fourth albums, called 19 Naughty III and Poverty's Paradise respectively, most notably, the platinum selling single, “Hip Hop Hooray”. In 1999 the group released its fifth album, titled Nineteen Naughty Nine: Nature's Fury, which was certified Gold and spawned the hit "Jamboree".
Brandishing an electrifying mix of soul, funk, hip-hop and gospel, Blackstreet delivered its self-titled, certified platinum, debut album in the summer of 1994. The disc spawned three hit singles: “Before I Let You Go” (Top 10 on Billboard’s Hot 100), “Joy” (#8 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay list) and “Booti Call” (Top 20 Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay). These, combined with MTV/BET airplay and a thriving tour, established Blackstreet as one of the most promising outfits on the R&B landscape. As the album climbed to sales of more than four million units, Blackstreet displayed a diversity only suggested by their debut. In 1996, the group defied the sophomore slump with an album that soared. Appropriately titled Another Level, the disc debuted at #1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and at #3 on the Billboard 200 (it would reside on both charts for more than 60 weeks). This spectacular premier was due in no small part to the Teddy Riley-produced monster hit “No Diggity.” Deemed one of the 100 Greatest Pop Songs by Rolling Stone and MTV, “No Diggity” broke new ground with its combination of gritty hip-hop beats and smooth-as-silk harmonies. The song propelled to #1 (Hot 100) and platinum certification.
Kid 'n Play recorded three albums together between 1988 and 1991: 2 Hype (1988), Kid 'n Play's Funhouse (1990), and Face the Nation (1991). Among the group's most successful singles were 1989's "Rollin' with Kid 'n Play" (#11 on the Billboard R&B singles chart), 1990s "Funhouse" (#1 on the Billboard rap singles chart), and "Ain't Gonna Hurt Nobody" (another #1 rap hit). They have also had acclaimed success on the silver screen, starring together in four feature films; House Party 1 & 2, High School High, etc
This distinctive silver-haired singer established his performing credentials as a founding member of highly successful urban R&B quartet Dru Hill, who enjoyed transatlantic hits in the late 90’s with singles such as 'How Deep Is Your Love' and 'These Are The Times'. Sisqo released his solo album ‘Unleash The Dragon’ in November of 1999. The risqué lead-off single, ‘Thong Song’ garnered four Grammy nominations and numerous other awards. The song peaked at number one on Billboard Rhythmic top 40 chart and number three on the Billboard Hot 100. In addition to Thong Song, the album produced other hits, including the up tempo hit 'Got To Get It'.
About Mark McGrath
As lead singer/songwriter for Sugar Ray, McGrath can lay claim to a stunning string of top 10 hits, multiple multi-platinum albums (including the RIAA 3x platinum certified “14:59”), and countless sold out tours. McGrath has also proven to be an effervescent and ever-present pop culture personality, with a host of TV, film, and other extracurricular endeavors. The puckishly titled “14:59” – a middle finger to those who declared Sugar Ray to be no more than a passing fad – made it clear McGrath and the band had the songwriting chops to go along with its vibrant sonic approach. The 1999 album was a triple platinum sensation, yielding a sun-kissed string of unforgettable pop classics including “Someday,” “Falls Apart,” and still another #1 smash in “Every Morning.”
About Montell Jordan
The second R&B artist to sign with Def Jam Recordings, Montell Jordan yielded one of 1995's biggest hits with his debut single, "This Is How We Do It". The song became an instant classic and is still widely recognized as one of the biggest party records to date across the globe.
About Biz Markie
The legendary Biz Markie brings more than 30 years of solid hip-hop acumen and an overwhelming fan-base that stretches from New York City to Japan to Europe. His classic ‘Just a Friend’ made VH1’s list of 100 greatest hip-hop songs of all time and is widely regarding as one of the most recognized songs in Hip-Hop history.
Coolio is a Grammy award-winning rapper who achieved success with Platinum-selling albums, "It Takes a Thief" (1994), "Gangsta's Paradise" (1995) and "My Soul" (1997). The title track "Gangsta's Paradise," earned him a Grammy for Best Rap Solo Performance. Other hit singles include "Fantastic Voyage," "C U When U Get There" and "1, 2, 3, 4 (Sumpin' New)."
About Chubb Rock
Chubb Rock’s 1991 release entitled The One, reached No. 13 on Billboard's "Top Hip-Hop/R&B" chart for that year. The album produced three hit singles, "Treat' em Right", "Just The Two of Us" and "The Chubbster", all made it to No. 1 on Billboard's "Top Rap Single" chart list for the same year.
About C+C Music Factory
The group is best known for their five hit singles: "Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)", "Here We Go (Let's Rock & Roll)", "Things That Make You Go Hmmmm...", "Just a Touch of Love", and "Keep It Comin'". C+C Music Factory have earned a total of 35 music industry awards worldwide, including five Billboard Awards, five American Music Awards, and two MTV Video Music Awards.
